Josephine Sindavi

CEO

Josephine is a seasoned social development leader and humanitarian advocate with over two decades of dedicated experience transforming rural communities in Kenya. As a driving force behind Help Mission Development Services (HMDS)a key partner organization with PERIAMMA, she has spent 22 years spearheading high-impact initiatives that champion education, gender equity, and community-led development across the Rift Valley Region. Holding specialized qualifications in project management, Josephine blends structured strategic leadership with a deep, lifelong passion for grassroots advocacy. Since 2000, she has been at the forefront of critical human rights efforts, continuously working to dismantle deeply entrenched cultural barriers including female genital mutilation (FGM), child marriage, and teenage motherhood that systematically deny girls their fundamental right to education. Under her visionary leadership, HMDS and PERIAMMA have built a sustainable framework for regional growth, currently operating across ten partner schools. Josephine has successfully designed and executed a diverse portfolio of essential community projects, ranging from clean water infrastructure and emergency relief distribution to youth civic education. Notably, she pioneered the Breaking the Silence Project, an initiative that establishes safe spaces and youth advocacy platforms to actively challenge traditional taboos. Driven by a profound commitment to equity, Josephine focuses intensely on mentoring children and youth from deeply humble backgrounds. She has successfully created pathways for marginalized students to access life-changing learning opportunities, enabling them to reach their highest academic potential in colleges and universities. Guided by the philosophy that "education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire," Josephine remains dedicated to walking alongside children and communities, ensuring that sustainable development is achieved through meaningful, local involvement.
